Bow Hunt Big Game in CanadaThere are hundreds of bow hunting opportunities in Canada. Hunt bear, moose, elk, mule deer, whitetail and more. Bow Hunting BearIf you’re looking for a good bear hunt, look to Alberta in the spring. Hunt in the tree stands that are set up directly over live bait traps for a shooting distance of between 15 and 20 feet. More experienced hunters are offered spot and stalk hunting in both spring and fall. These bear hunts can be booked with Canadian outfitters and take place either in Alberta or British Columbia. Bow Hunting CaribouBelieve it or not, there’s great caribou hunting in northern Quebec, especially in the area around Schefferville. Hunt the famous George River Herd that has a caribou population of between 550,000 and 750,000. Book with one of the outfitters online or get a few friends together and plan your own bow hunting caribou excursion. Bow Hunting Deer and MooseMany Canadian provinces have both a mule and whitetail deer bow hunting season, but the best areas are in Manitoba and Alberta. Deer are hunted in both pre-rut and rutting seasons. Maybe you’d like to hunt moose that carry racks that measure anywhere from 40 to 65 inches. Book a bow hunt for Eastern Canada through outfitters all across the country. Some outfitters offer private hunts in both the Maritimes and the western provinces. Bow Hunting ElkElk are a big game animal and many bow hunters would love to get one in their sights. Imagine bagging one of these majestic beauties. Head to Alberta and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. That’s where you’ll find the largest elk in the country. They range between the foothills and the boreal forest and many trophy elk can be found that have a minimum of six points. Each year, a number of bulls with exceptional racks are taken in the area. Alberta hunts take place in the fall during rut and tags are required in some places. Check for restrictions before hunting. Bow Hunting Mountain GoatIt’s easy to approach mountain goats so that you are within bow range. They depend on their ability and the rugged cliff’s nooks and crannies to protect them. Hunters should be in good physical shape to negotiate the steep, rocky terrain. If possible, approach from above these goats, as they are more alert to what approaches from below. Mountain goats are not an impressive trophy, but the thrill comes from the hard, physical challenge that hunters face before they get the goats in their sights. Mountain goat hunting excursions can be booked by outfitters across the country, but are only hunted in British Columbia. Bow Hunting CougarSome bow hunters thrill at the thought of getting a big cat in their sights. British Columbia is well known as one of the best places in the world to hunt big cougars. One of the best spots in the province is the basin of the Fraser River. It has a large population of mule deer, which keeps many cougars in the area. You can book with an outfitter in the area who is able to provide hounds for tracking these big cats in winter. Many of the hunts have to be accessed by snowmobile. Some outfitters will arrange your big cat hunt to include bobcat, lynx and cougar. Imagine getting one of these cats in your sights. If you are looking for an unforgettable bow hunting experience, come to Canada. You’re always welcome and there’s great hunting and beautiful scenery in every province.
